What an MP3 is
MP3 is a compressed audio format. The file keeps the sound and leaves out the picture, so it is smaller than the video and can be played on a phone, in a car, or on a music player.
A simple, fast online converter
Paste a public YouTube link to see the title, the channel, and the official player. This page does not download the video. The MP3 comes from a file you own, uploaded on File to MP3.
The player belongs to YouTube. YTA MP3 is independent and is not affiliated with YouTube or Google.

The field and the button can be used with one hand.
Simple interface
One main action, without competing buttons.
Copy the address of a public YouTube video.
Paste it and press Convert. You will see the public details and the official player. This page does not download the video or the audio.
Upload your file on File to MP3. MP4, MOV, WebM, M4A, and WAV up to 100 MB are accepted. You choose 128, 192, 256, or 320 kbps.
The link field and the convert button are in plain sight. There is no panel to learn.
Everything happens on the page. There is no desktop program and no unusual permission to accept.
The page adapts to small screens and the controls leave enough room for a finger.
On a large screen, the link and the main action stay on the same row.
On File to MP3 you can choose 128, 192, 256, or 320 kbps. A higher value takes more space and does not improve a poor source file.
One task per screen, without fake buttons or notices covering the tool.
The interface adapts to the screen width. It is meant for current browsers on phones, tablets, and computers. We do not claim compatibility with specific versions we have not checked.
Open the site in Chrome or another current browser. Copy the link, paste it, and stay on the same page.
You can use Safari or another current browser. Where the file is saved depends on that browser.
Any current browser works. The MP3 is saved in the downloads folder you have configured.
The page installs nothing on the Mac. The browser saves the audio file.

A video combines picture and sound. Converting to MP3 keeps only the audio track, in a file that almost any player can open.
Bitrate says how much audio data is stored per second, measured in kbps. A higher value usually keeps more detail and takes more space.
The size depends on the bitrate and the length. About four minutes of audio is around 4 MB at 128 kbps and closer to 10 MB at 320 kbps. Those figures are a guide, not the exact size of your file.
The sizes in the table are approximate for four minutes of audio. Those options are on File to MP3: 128, 192, 256, and 320 kbps. The YouTube link does not choose the bitrate.
Swipe the table to see every column.
| Quality | Approximate size | Suggested use |
|---|---|---|
| 128 kbps | About 4 MB | Background listening, or saving space on a phone. |
| 192 kbps | About 6 MB | A reasonable middle ground for everyday music. |
| 256 kbps | About 8 MB | More detail if you will listen with headphones. |
| 320 kbps | About 10 MB | The highest option on this list. |
Converting a low-quality source to 320 kbps does not restore detail that was not in the original. The file is larger, but it does not sound better than the source.
